Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Operations

TLILIC0005 – Licence to operate a Boom-type Elevated Work Platform

Course Outline

Elevated Work Platform (EWP) is a Nationally Accredited course and has a high risk licence outcome that provides the skills and knowledge required to be able to safely operate a boom-type Elevating Work Platform (EWP boom length over 11m).

The course consists of face to face classroom delivery and practical skilling. Fundamental underpinning knowledge of Work Health & Safety Regulations, EWP characteristics, capabilities and operations.

Practical application will consist of the safe operation of an EWP in a workplace environment.

 

Assessment

A closed book & calculator theory assessment  must be completed to a satisfactory standard, then a practical assessment shall be conducted.

On successful completion participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment and assessment summary which is required to submit a high risk licence application to WHSQ.

Persons required to operate an Elevated Work Platform.

Recognition of Prior Learning

There are provisions for recognition of prior learning for the EWP licence. DTE can assess equivalent/expired qualifications and evidence of prior learning against licensing requirements to determine eligibility. Candidates that believe they may meet RPL contact the office to discuss.

 

Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)

To complete this course successfully, participants need to have reasonably well developed skills in areas such as reading, writing and communication.

Examples of LLN requirements participants will need to demonstrate include:

  • Complete written & calculation assessment
  • Identify & confirm task work orders with relevant people
  • Follow work plan inline with procedures
  • Complete logbook entries for EWP
  • Record EWP damage & defects
  • Interpreted & follow communication signals

Prerequisites:

Participants must be:

  • Over 18 years old
  • Able to read and write English
  • Hold a current Working at Heights statement of attainment (within 2 years)
