Course Outline
This course is designed to licence a worker to conduct forklift operations and provides the skills and knowledge required to be able to safely operate a forklift. The Nationally Accredited course has a high risk licence outcome.
The course consists of face to face classroom delivery and practical skilling. Fundamental underpinning knowledge of WHS regulations, forklift truck characteristics, capabilities and operations.
Practical application will consist of the safe operation of a forklift truck and its attachments in a workplace environment.
Assessment
A closed book & calculator theory assessment must be completed to a satisfactory standard, then a practical assessment shall be conducted.
On successful completion participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment and assessment summary which is required to submit a high risk license application to WHSQ.

Persons required to operate a forklift.

Recognition of Prior Learning
There are provisions for recognition of prior learning for the forklift licence. DTE can assess equivalent/expired qualifications and evidence of prior learning against licensing requirements to determine eligibility. Candidates that believe they may meet RPL contact the office to discuss.
Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)
To complete this course successfully, participants need to have reasonably well developed skills in areas such as reading, writing and communication.
Examples of LLN requirements participants will need to demonstrate include:
- Able to calculate loads
- Identify and confirm task work orders with relevant people
- Record Forklift damage & defects
- Interpret and follow communication signals
