Course Outline
This skill set is a nationally accredited course that provides the skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and perform rescue from a live LV panel.
This skill set has been developed by industry to provide for the mobility of electrical supply industry (ESI) workers with respect to mutual aid in times of emergency.
This skill set covers:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Electrical isolation
- Carry out rescue from LV panel
- Perform CPR
- Tools & emergency equipment to perform rescue
- Communicate & report details of an incident
The Electrical Code of Practice recommends refresher training every 12 months for both units.
Assessment
A theory and practical assessment will be conducted throughout the course.
On successful completion participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Who Should Attend?
Electricity supply workers who undertake the installation and/or maintenance of network infrastructure which requires workers to perform rescue from a live LV panel including conduct CPR.
ESI workers are required to maintain currency to work on electrical networks.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Individuals who believe they may be competent in this unit of competency can apply for RPL. RPL is available based on relevant work experience, formal training or expertise. Refresher training is recommended every 12 months.
Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)
To complete this course successfully, participants need to have reasonably well developed skills in areas such as reading, writing and communication.
Examples of LLN requirements participants will need to demonstrate include:
- Follow workplace procedures for accessing & isolating LV panels
- Assess casualties & recognise the need for CPR
- Call emergency response services
- Review risk management documentation
- Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies
- Maintain tools & emergency equipment for specific work functions & work areas
