Course Outline
DTE Training & Safety Skills provides recognition of prior learning (RPL) for nationally accredited mobile plant equipment in the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package for Coal Mining, Metalliferous Mining, Civil Infrastructure, Quarrying (Extractive) and Drilling Industry Sectors
Criteria for RPL will include the following:
- Planning and preparation
- Pre and post operational checks
- Safe operations in accordance with OEM
- Practical skill level for production outcomes
- Attachment selection, fitting and removal of GETS (where applicable)
- Relocation and maintenance
An RPL Application & supporting evidence must be submitted before DTE can proceed with the RPL process. Supporting evidence can be a letter (on company letterhead) of each skill and knowledge in relation to the competency, plus any other evidence you have, relevant to the competency.
NOTE: Please ensure this application is taken serious enough to submit thorough documentation to support claims of competence. It is vital to the successful outcome of competence.
Application & supporting data will be reviewed by a qualified Trainer Assessor.
Final assessment is available through 2 options:
OPTION 1:
Send a video recording with all associated evidence to support the assessment via drop-box to [email protected]
OPTION 2:
After pre-agreement of equipment & location logistics, DTE Assessor will proceed to work site or suitable simulated environment to conduct an assessment.
Assessment
Formal assessment shall be conducted by Option 1 or Option 2.
Participants who demonstrate competency will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for the machinery unit they are assessed against.

Recognition of Prior Learning
There are no provisions for recognition of prior learning for the training.
Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)
To complete this RPL successfully, participants need to have reasonably well developed skills in areas such as reading, writing and communication.
Examples of LLN requirements participants will need to demonstrate include:
- Read, interpret, clarify & confirm work requirements
- Identify & address potential risks, hazards & environmental issues
- Implement control measures
- Operate in accordance with site procedures & OEM
- Communicate activities with others
- Process written records
