Course Outline

This unit of competency is a nationally accredited course that provides the skills & knowledge required to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. ARC recommends this course be repeated every 12 months.

This course is structured for those requiring annual refreshers. Please review the First Aid course flyer should you require Apply First Aid which includes CPR.

The CPR competency covers:

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Perform CPR procedures
  • Communicate details of the incident 

 

Assessment

Theory and practical assessments will be conducted throughout the course.

On successful completion participants receive a Statement of Attainment.

 

Who Should Attend?

This unit applies to all people holding a current First Aid Competency, who may be required to provide CPR in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Due to ARC recommended guidelines for 12 month refreshers & the course time frame of 3 hours it is considered unlikely that RPL shall take place, however please contact us should you believe otherwise.

 

Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)

To complete this course successfully, participants need to have reasonably well developed skills in areas such as reading, writing and communication.

Examples of LLN requirements participants will need to demonstrate include:

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Identify, assess & minimise immediate hazards to health & safety of self & others
  • Assess the casualty & recognise the need for CPR
  • Call emergency response services & accurately convey incident details
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Operate automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturer’s instructions
  • Report details of incident to workplace supervisor as appropriate
  • Maintain confidentiality of records & information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies

Cost:

A total fee of $70 per person which covers all course materials, administration, training facility and catering costs.

Prerequisites:

Participant must be able to kneel on the floor to conduct CPR cycles.
