Course Outline
These units of competency are a nationally accredited course that provides the skills and knowledge required to initiate first aid response and conduct CPR in a range of situations.
This competency covers:
- Recognition of an emergency situation
- Identify, assess and manage immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others
- Assess the casualty and recognise the need for first aid response
- Seek assistance from emergency response services where required
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Assessment
Theory and practical assessments will be conducted throughout the course.
On successful completion participants receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.
Who Should Attend?
This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Due to the changing environment of first aid and the ARC guidelines it is not likely RPL will be required, however should you believe otherwise please contact us directly.
Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)
To complete this course successfully, participants need to have reasonably well developed skills in areas such as reading, writing and communication. Examples of LLN requirements participants will need to demonstrate include:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Identify, assess & minimise immediate hazards to health & safety of self & others
- Assess the casualty & recognise the need for CPR
- Call emergency response services & accurately convey incident details
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Operate automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturer’s instructions
- Report details of incident in line with organisational policies
- Maintain confidentiality of records & information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies
