Standard 11 – Generic Mining Surface Induction Skill Set

 

Course Outline

This course is a nationally accredited 3 day course.

The Standard 11 Skill Set from the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package meets the QLD regulatory requirements for those aiming to work in an open cut coal mine in QLD.

The Standard 11 course ensures that the generic safety information and obligations, applicable on all coal mine sites are provided to workers prior to working on a mine site.

Skill Set Units of Competence include:

  • RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace
  • RIIERR205D Apply initial first aid
  • RIIERR302E Respond to local emergencies & incidents
  • RIIGOV201E Comply with site work processes & procedures
  • RIIWHS201E Work safely and follow WHS policies & procedures
  • RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control

 

Assessment

If the RTO is satisfied with participant’s existing/current workplace experience, a Statement of attainment may be provided.

If any part of the required Performance Evidence cannot be gathered the Participant will be issued with a Workplace Experience Logbook. This will need to be completed on site and signed off by site Supervisors.

These participants must return Logbook for verification within 6 months of course completion date for a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment to be issued.

 

Who Should Attend?

This Skill Set is for those individuals wishing to work in surface coal mining operations in QLD.

 

Legislation / Compliance

This training is an approved nationally recognised programme, designed and developed through consultation with Industry, the Mines Inspectorate, Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s), Contractors and the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU).

 

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Standard 11 competencies and direct credit will be granted to applicants who can demonstrate currency.

 

Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)

To complete this course successfully, participants need to have reasonably well developed skills in areas such as reading, writing and communication.

Examples of activities participants will need to  demonstrate include:

  • Plan, prepare & communicate workplace needs
  • Respond to initial response emergencies
  • Identify, minimise & implement control measures for risks & hazards
  • Report hazards
  • Apply work plans & WHS procedures to ensure work activity is compliant

Cost:

A total fee of $700.00 per person which covers all course materials, administration, training facility and catering costs.

There are no formal entry requirements.
